Assam Rifles recovers illegal crystal methamphetamine and illegal cigarettes in Mizoram

MIZORAM: The Serchhip Battalion of the 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered a huge cache of 9.864 kg of illegal crystal methamphetamine worth Rs. 29.592 crore and apprehended One Myanamar National in the general area of Zote, Champhai, on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles recovered 174 cases of illegal cigarettes of foreign origin worth Rs. 2.61 crore in the general area of Ruantlang, Champhai, on Tuesday.

Both the operations were carried out by a combined team of the Assam Rifles and Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai, based on specific information. The seized consignment and apprehended individual were handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai, on Tuesday for further legal proceedings, stated a press release.
