Assam Rifles seized illegal areca nuts worth Rs 1.288 crore in Mizoram

MIZORAM: The Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered 230 bags of illegal areca nuts worth Rs. 1.288 crore in the general area of Tlangsam, Champhai, on Wednesday.

The operation was carried out by a combined team of Assam Rifles and the Customs Department in Champhai based on specific information. The seized consignment was handed over to the Customs Department in Champhai on Wednesday for further legal proceedings, stated a press release.
