Silchar: Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) in collaboration with Cachar district administration extended warm felicitation to as many as 147 Chandraprabha baideos who are working across the rural areas in the seven constituencies of the district to encourage them towards their task of electoral awareness. In this regard, an appreciation programme for Chandraprabha baideos was organized at the conference hall of DRDA Cachar. Deputy Commissioner cum Returning Officer Laya Madduri, handed over a kitbag including hand sanitizers, folic acid 30 tablets etc to the baideos urging them to put more efforts to enthuse female voters. Laya Madduri thanked the baideos and said that they should motivate the voters to cast vote and also tell them the mannerisms to cast votes in an unbiased and uninfluenced way which might yield prosperous results in the election.
The baideos should also spread awareness about ways to redress the complaints of the people in the rural areas and thereby empower women in the society. She sought support from the Chandraprabha baideos in making the mega electoral exercise successful. They are working under the Aideu Chora initiative adopted by the CEC Assam across 15 blocks in 162 Gaon Panchayats in tandem with 880 SHGs and reaching the female voters on a door-to-door basis. 128 rallies have been conducted and 2380 physically challenged persons have been identified who would be assisted on the day of election. Laya Madduri also flagged off a rally with the Chandraprabha baideos to boost their morale in discharging their services towards electoral awareness.
