77th annual Baram Baba fair ends in Silchar

Silchar: The 77th annual Baram Baba fair in Silcoorie area of Cachar district which was inaugurated by Parimal Suklabaidya, Minister for Forests, Fisheries and Excise, has ended on a grand note. The 3-day fair started on November 22. Though, the number of devotees was less in number of the first day mainly due to Barak Bandh, there was an increase in their numbers of following two days. He also performed holy rituals and puja at the temple. Hundreds of devotees were present to witness the holy occasion. Baram Baba temple can be compared to the visits of other renowned holy pilgrimages.

Swami Mrinmayanandaji Maharaj of Bharat Sevashram Sangha along with MLAs Aminul Haque Laskar was also present at the occasion. More than 200 stalls have been installed at the fair. Tight security was provided by 8 Bn SSB and Ghoonghor police. Blankets were also distributed by Vivek Podder, a well-to-do resident of this town. The committee members were assisted by Silcoorie tea estate manager. Prasadam was also distributed among the devotees. Bhajans and kirtanas were performed. Bhajan Kirtana parties from Boromamda and its neighbouring areas came all the way to Silcoorie to perform.
