Action Plan Formulated to Improve Education Scenario in Hailakandi District

Hailakandi: In an attempt to spruce up the education scenario, the Hailakandi district administration took up a number of initiatives.

At a review meeting of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan convened by DC, Keerthi Jalli, at her office on Thursday, an action plan was formulated for this academic year before the reopening of schools through broad-based discussions with IS, DEEO, DPO, BEEO, BAM, CRCC and other education officials.

DC, Jalli underscored the need for taking extra classes and compulsory homework by teachers to bring about transformation in the education scene in the district. She exuded optimism that she would get full support and cooperation from teachers in improving pass percentages of the district in the current academic year.

In a move to ensure availability of minimum basic facilities to the children in schools, the Assistant General Manager (Rural Electrification) and Assistant Director, Food and Civil Supplies, who were present in the meeting, were asked by the Deputy Commissioner, on the basis of inputs received from the Inspector of Schools, to ensure availability of electricity and LPG connections in all the provincialised schools. All the 85 CRCCs attending the meeting were asked to visit schools on a regular basis to monitor, provide support and report to the higher authorities of lacunae noticed. The DC, while reminding them of their duties being the field level functionaries, exhorted upon them to work on a mission mode.

Jalli mooted the idea of developing a mechanism to mainstream the out-of-school children. The District Quality Managers, who deal with RSTCs and NRSTCs, were asked to report about the challenges being faced. As a follow up of the previous review meeting, Inspector of Schools, Rajiv Kumar Jha apprised them of the steps initiated for children with special needs (CWSN), slow bloomers and catalyzing of civil work projects. Jha further disclosed in the meeting the improved performance of students in HSLC (compartmental) exam 2019, the results of which were declared on Wednesday. The review meeting with the functionaries lasted for almost four hours.
