Akhil Bharatiya Vidarthi Parishad (ABVP) Writes To Cachar DC Laya Madduri

Silchar: There is no denying the fact that Cachar district is facing a lot of problems related to the development of infrastructure, road, transport and communication among others. In this regard, the members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidarthi Parishad (ABVP), Assam University unit, submitted a memorandum to Laya Madduri, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar recently. They addressed some of the problems which the citizens of the district in general and students in particular are facing in their day to day life. They urged upon the Deputy Commissioner to initiate measures for immediate construction or completion of repairing work of the existing Silchar-Hailakandi road up to Assam University.

Some other demands mentioned in the memorandum include improving and developing the road up to Assam University by turning it into a four lane road, fixing of bus and sumo fares by the administration for the convenience of people, installing digital meter to produce bill on demand, providing emergency contact number on accident prone areas of the district of Cachar and constructing traffic point or signal system before the National Institute of Technology, Silchar, and Assam University, points to avoid accident. It has been particularly mentioned that the road condition is pathetic and is covered with big potholes which need immediate attention. They have urged upon the district administration to take immediate steps within 10 days or so for the safety of people’s lives. A copy of the memorandum has been sent to the President of India, the Prime Minister of India, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Governor of Assam, Chief Minister of Assam, PWD Minister of Assam and the OSD to the Chief Minister, Barak Valley.
