Silchar: Like every year Beekshan Cine Commune is all set to serve some quality and outstanding films from world cinema on a platter. The 5-day long 21st Beekshan Film Festival, organized by Beekshan Cine Commune, will begin from January 2, 2019 and will continue till January 6, 2019. A total of 21 films in 16 different languages from 13 nations will be screened during the Film Festival. Last year Beekshan Cine Commune screened 17 films in 11 languages from 6 nations. This year, the Cine Commune will screen more films. The Film Festival will be held at Gandhi Bhawan, Park road of this town.

In addition to this, an open cine quiz in association with Ayiriddhi Sparshamani Foundation will also be conducted on January 6 before the screening of the last film. Interested persons have been requested to get themselves registered at Beekshan office which at Harikripa Complex, near V2 Mall, Tulapatty of this town. They will register on any day till January 1, 2019 from 4 pm to 9 pm. The inaugural ceremony Film Festival will be held at 5 pm on January 2, 2019. The Film Festival will begin with a 120-minute Bengali film titled ‘Mayurakshi’, directed by Atanu Ghosh.

This film will be followed by a Polish film ‘Afterimage’, which is a 98-minute film directed by the brilliant filmmaker Andrej Wajda at 8 pm. On January 3, 2019, the film lovers and movie buffs can see as much as 5 outstanding films which include a 90-minute Nepali film ‘The Black Hen’, directed Mir Bahadur Bham, a 135-minute Kannada film ‘Lucia’ directed by Pawan Kumar, a Hindi film ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, a 88-minute Bengali film ‘Sohoj Pather Goppo’ directed by Manas Mukul Paul and a 121-minute German film ‘Head on’ directed by Fatih Akin.

On January 4, 2019, more films comprise a 113-minute a Mali film ‘Bamako’ directed by Abderrahmane Sissako, a 110-minute Marathi film ‘Killa’ directed by Avinash Arun, the 110-minute highly appreciated and critically acclaimed Hindi film ‘A Death in the Gunj’ directed by Konkona Sen Sharma, a 145-muite Bengali film ‘Projapoti Biscuit’ directed by Anindya Chatterjee and an Iranian film ‘Disappearance’ directed by Ali Asgari. On January 5, 2019, viewers can see a total number of 5 films and these are an Italian film ‘Fire at the Sea’ directed by Gianfranco Rosi, a Bengali film ‘Kangal Malsat’ directed by Suman Mukherjee, a Hindi film ‘Beyond the Clouds’ directed by Majid Majidi, a Bengali film ‘Samantaral’ directed by Partha Chakraborty and a Chilean film ‘A Fantastic Woman’ directed by Sebastian Lelio.

On the last day of the Film Festival will screened an American film ‘Lord of Flies’ directed by Harry Hook, a Hindi film ‘Manto’ which is directed by Nandita Das, a Hindi film ‘Bioscopewala’ directed by Deb Medhekar and a Bengali film ‘Haami’ directed by Shiboprasad and Nandita. This year also Beekshan Cine Commune is going to screen some quality films.
