Hailakandi: Bolo App, an effective tool for enhancing learning, has been installed and activated on the smart phones of more than 100 teachers in Hailakandi district on Monday.

Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs) of Mohanpur, West Mohanpur and Mohanpur Burnie Brase 1 launched the campaign ‘Bolo App on every smartphone’ and invited the teachers with smartphones to attend the programme held at Premlochan HS School at Mohanpur.

Program leader, Piramal Foundation, partner organisation of Google, Sadasiva Reddy revealed that scores of teachers turned out in response to the appeal. “CRCCs gave demonstration on Bolo App installation with partner code: kfp256015, activation and management,” said Reddy.

The CRCCs appealed to the teachers to help the students improve reading skills with the joyful learning app. They also requested the teachers to invite all the parents/guardians to make them aware of the benefits of this mobile app. “CRCCs will assist teachers as well as guardians to install, activate with partner code and manage the Bolo App to their smartphones, if required,” said Reddy.

Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli launched the Bolo app at a programme on Thursday. Under Akanksha ‘accelerated learning programme’, 230 educational volunteers joined to improve basic Bengali and Mathematics skills and conducted baseline assessment in 100 Happy Schools, to improve learning outcomes.

“The vision of the district administration is to transform the primary and upper primary school students from non reader to reader,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner (in charge of Education), RK Dam.

Bolo is speech-based app designed to help elementary grade kids learn to read - anytime, anywhere - just using their voice.

Designed for primary and upper primary grade children, Bolo helps to improve their reading skills, by encouraging them to read aloud and giving them instant feedback - even when completely offline.

Bolo listens to what your children read, encourages them when they read well and helps them when they get stuck - just like a real reading tutor. Children can also play interesting word games and earn in-app awards, helping reading become both fun and a daily habit.

Multiple children can use the same app, and track their progress separately. Over time the difficulty level of recommended stories adjusts to their reading skills. “The app works even when completely offline, and shows no ads, so that children can just focus on reading,” added Reddy.
