Cachar Deputy Commissioner releases voters’ anthem

Silchar: Deputy Commissioner of Cachar at a press meet held on Tuesday at her conference hall informed that preparations are afoot for the ensuing elections. Cachar is going to polls on April 18 which has already been declared a holiday. She urged upon all to cast their precious votes keeping in mind that it is honourable to be a part of the largest democratic exercise i.e. voting. “As of now in all the polling stations Assured Minimum Facilities have been provided with. Electricity connection has been set in 1192 polling stations, 1396 polling stations have a permanent sanitation system, waiting sheds in 1278 polling stations and drinking water facilities in 1296 polling stations. The remaining polling stations will also have these facilities,” said Laya Madduri.

“Round the clock services are being provided to smoothen the process. We have received 340 enquiry calls regarding the mammoth exercise. Complain monitoring cells have also been set up. This year there are lots of young voters and thus it is important to create awareness among them. Till now we have received 3 entries in the short film making competition regarding voting awareness. Micro observers have been deployed at all the critical polling stations. There are about 20 such critical polling stations. We will keep a keen eye on each of the polling stations. No stones will be left unturned in making the election process free and fair,” said Laya Madduri. The voters anthem ‘Our vote is our right’ was also formally launched in the form of CDs by the Deputy Commissioner.
