Chondoneer Felicitates Singer Swapan Kumar Deb

Silchar: Chondoneer, a socio-cultural organization, has always been drawing attention by doing out-of-the-box things for people. They have been in the lookout for talented singers and artistes who deserve special mention. On the birth anniversary of legendary classical singer Pt. Bishnu Narayan Bhatkande, members of Chondoneer felicitated a great singer of yesteryears of Barak Valley, Swapan Kumar Deb (Shyamal).

Swapan Kumar was successful, well-known and reputed and had seen glorious days. Of late, he has been lying paralysed and receiving constant support from his wife Rina Deb. Chondoneer members met the couple and encouraged them and inspired them. The couple lamented the loss of people’s interest in music and songs. Bhaskar Das of Chondoneer said that it was the duty of artistes to stand by another artiste in his times of adversity. Chondoneer wants to preserve these gems. Among others present at the time of felicitation Nilotpaul Chakraborty, Subir Gupta, Sanjay Giri, Shubham Paul, Sandeep Das, Sushanto Chakraborty and Ranjit Bhowmik were present.
