Hailakandi: Udyam Samagam Mela organized by the District Industries and Commerce Centre in Hailakandi this month has been deferred following advisories from Delhi and Dispur to avoid large gatherings in view of Coronavirus outbreak.

The decision was taken at a District Level Committee meeting chaired by District Development Commissioner, Vikram Dev Sharma in his office chamber on Tuesday. Sharma said the date would be fixed only after the Central and State Governments lift the prohibition on mass gatherings.

He asked the committee members to do more groundwork as they have enough time and to tie up with government agencies and NGOs and also to rope in resource persons and experts for the mela. The DDC asked the committee to chalk out the programmes to be held during the two-day mela and to leave no stone unturned to make it a success. Inspector of Schools, DIPRO, Lead District Manager, General Manager, DI&CC and president, Merchant Association were present in the meeting.
