District Academic Council Reconstituted in Hailakandi District

Hailakandi: The District Academic Council (DAC) was reconstituted in Hailakandi district on Thursday. The academic council, consisting of all the head of secondary, senior secondary schools and madrassas as members and Inspector of Schools as president, is an important body that makes planning and implementation of educational policies at the district level.

Inspector of Schools, Rajiv Kumar Jha said, “In a district like ours the role of DAC is even more demanding to enrich the learning outcome and improving the pass percentage in HSLC and HS exams.” The DAC was reconstituted under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli. Headmaster of Panchgram Town High School Abdul Suquer Choudhury was unanimously selected as secretary of the council as the post was lying vacant due to the retirement of Headmaster, Monacherra High School Maskandar Ali.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education) RK Dam, IS and DAC members formally bade adieu to Ali and welcomed new secretary, Choudhury. DC, in her inaugural speech, congratulated all the members for achieving numero uno position in implementation of Mid-Day Meal scheme in the State. She further expressed her satisfaction at the changes visible in the education sector in maintaining school timings and holding remedial classes. She also warned all to refrain from any sort of dereliction in duty and indulging in any corrupt practice.

Inspector of Schools, Jha, in his address, urged all the head of institutions to maintain academic, financial and administrative leadership in school with diligence. He further sought the cooperation of all the members of DAC in implementing various initiatives being taken up by the department. The meeting ended with vote of thanks from the new DAC secretary.
