District administration gears up for peaceful Eid celebrations, holds meeting

SILCHAR: The deputy commissioner of Cachar Laya Madduri on Thursday chaired a meeting at the conference hall of DC Office Cachar regarding peaceful observation of the forthcoming Eid-ul-Fitre. The meeting was also attended by Additional SP, Cachar Gourav Agarwal, ADC J.R.Lalsim, Assistant Commissioners Maria Tanim, Nabneeta Hazarkia and eminent personalities of Muslim community including rresidents of important Maszid committees, stated a press release.

During the meeting, the members of the committee raised concern that on the festival day, due to rash driving by youngsters many mishaps occurred in the past and measures should be taken to control it. Thus, the committee took a resolution that not more than 2 persons should be allowed to ride on bikes and helmets must be used invariably. To enforce this, it was decided that police will strengthen checking and impose fines on violation. The deputy commissioner also informed that APDCL had been instructed for uninterrupted power supply during the festival time and PHE would ensure water supply. Deputy commissioner Madduri appealed to the people of Cachar to strengthen the brotherhood among the communities through this holy festival and she also wished the people of Cachar for the festival. Additional SP Agarwal informed that sufficient security measures would be taken up to thwart any untoward incidents during the festival.
