District Congress committee releases election manifesto for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections

Silchar: District Congress committee released the election manifesto for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections its party office on Wednesday. Former minister Abu Saleh Nizamuddin along with others released the manifesto in the presence of senior leaders and members at Indira Bhawan here. He said that Congress has always stood for the people of the country since its inception. “The party along with its leaders, members and workers have always worked for the improvement and betterment of the country. It was Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru who took India at the world stage. The present government is just making some false promises and assurances,” said Abu Saleh Nizamuddin.

The manifesto which was released promises to provide Rs.6000 per month and Rs.72000 per year to poor families which would in turn benefit 25 crore poor individuals, provide free health and medical care, 33 per cent reservation for women in employment sector, 33 per cent reservation of seats for women in both MP and MLA seats, separate budget for the farmers, shelter and housing facilities for poor families, 10 lakh jobs to youths of GP areas, opportunities to fill up 22 lakhs vacant posts in various government departments among others. “Congress will deliver if voted to power,” said the former minister. Among others who addressed the media persons included Partha Ranjan Chakraborty, Deepan Deewanjee, Dr Bibash Ranjan Choudhury, Sanjeev Roy, Dr Saurindra Kumar Bhattacharjee.
