Do Not Panic But Cooperate With Administration: Hailakandi Administration

Hailakandi: Following the Nitainagar-Laskar Bazaar violence and fear psychosis prevailing in the wake of arrests, the Hailakandi district administration appealed to the people not to panic but cooperate with the administration.

Officials of the district and police administration held a meeting with people’s representatives, political leaders, senior citizens and mediapersons at the circle office, Hailakandi here on Thursday, and appealed to the people of Nitainagar-Laskar Bazaar not to panic and to cooperate with the administration in the investigation process to bring the culprits to book. The officials assured that the law will take its own course against those involved in the violence and that those innocent need not have to fear or panic.

The incident took place on October 11 in which several policemen and security personnel were injured. 21 persons involved in the incident have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Three cases have been registered in Hailakandi (Sadar) Police Station. The meeting also felt the need to initiate confidence building measures by holding meeting at gaon panchayat level. It also urged the people not to be misled or swayed by rumours.
