Drug peddler apprehended at Silchar

Silchar: Acting on a reliable source, SDPO Lahipur Cachar, Anurag Sharma, carried out a search operation in the Binnakandie ghat area of the subdivision in the evening hours of Sunday. The operation was in the wine shop of Kishore Roy, the owner, by a police team led by SDPO. During search, drugs were recovered from 22 soap cases, valued at Rs 35 lakh in the market. The heroin weighed around 220 grams was seized. The SDPO called excise in charge Reshab Borgohain who appeared with his office staff.

The shop of Kishore Roy was sealed. The seized materials were handed over to the excise department. Following day, Kishure Roy was produced before the SDJMO Court at Lakhipur. FIR was filed against the drug peddler by ASI M N Singh. The court sent him to jail custody being an accused under NDPS Act. The case is being investigated by in-charge Banskandi investigation centre, Atikur Rahman.
