General Observer Sunil Kumar Yadav visits polling stations in Cachar

Silchar: General Observer for Lok Sabha election in Barak Valley Sunil Kumar Yadav is making routine visits to the polling stations, including many remote localities in the district of Cachar. On April 5, Yadav took stock of the preparatory measures in Katigorah constituency with contingency magistrate Jiten Taid, police officials, zonal officers FST and SST authorities. He went to 584 no. Haritikar L P school along the Indo Bangla international border and reviewed the implementation of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) therein. He followed it up by visiting the 810 no. Tukargram LP School via boat along with BSF officials. Later, the General Observer reached 16 no. Jagadish LP School, Kalain HS school, 697 no. Malidahar LP School situated on the Assam-Meghalaya border. During his visit, he interacted with local voters and election stakeholders. Constituency magistrate Jiten Taid accompanied him.

On April 6, Sunil Yadav went to Nutun Bazar area Gandhi Senior Basic school and reviewed the AMF activities. Constituency magistrate Deepmoy Thakuria, Officer in-charge Dholai, Bhargab Borbora accompanied the General Observer. However, to his surprise, during his visit, the General Observer expressed his discontent because of the absence of designated BLOs on duty. The General Observer directed the concerned authorities to take action against the absentee BLOs. The General Observer reviewed activities at Dholai police outpost regarding election preaparedness long with FST officials, MCC task force.

Meanwhile, on his way from Dholai, Yadav noticed some posters and banners of different political parties stuck on the residential complexes, individual houses and shops. He directed the MCC officials and police to probe into the matter and check if prior permission was taken. If not, action should be taken against the violators.

Yadav then went to 610 no. French Nagar LP School on the Assam-Mizoram border, 165 no. Hawaithang LP School. Here also, the General Observer did not find BLOs and asked authorities to take necessary action. He visited 174 no. Bhagabazar Ilias Ali LP school and 157 no. Ramprasadpur Model Thambal LP school. Circle Officer Deepmoy Thakuria and Sector Officer also accompanied him during his visit. Taking rounds of the constituencies, the general observer reached Lakkhicharan HS school and Swarna Lakhi HS school and held meeting with officials at Sonai circle office along with constituency magistrate Debajyoti Gogoi, Officer In-charge Sonai, Zonal Magistrate, FST and SST officials. Further, Yadav visited 874 no. Uttar Mohanpur LP school, 315 no. Goroikandi Maktab and took stock of the AMF amenities and gave necessary instructions to the MCC officials, MMC taskforce, and stakeholders to work harder with commitment and dedication to make the ensuing mega democratic exercise a successful one.
