Hailakandi: Inspector of Schools, Hailakandi, Rajiv Kumar Jha said Hailakandi district has recorded a good percentage of attendance of students on the concluding day of Gunotsav II despite the Assam bandh on Saturday.

Refuting reports in a section of the media, Jha said the bandh could not have much of an impact on the concluding day of Gunotsav II. Barring two schools viz., 503 No. Appin LP School and 533 No. Appin Bagan LP School under Katlicherra education block, evaluation took place in 379 schools on the day of bandh with an impressive attendance of 93%. “Of the 23,617 students, 22,016 took part in the assessment programme on the day of bandh with the percentage hovering over 90,” said Jha.

The second edition of Gunotsav, a quality control exercise being held across government schools in the state, had covered 1,357 schools out of the targeted 1,359 in Hailakandi district with overall attendance being 91.57%. Besides Hailakandi, Gunotsav II was held in 16 other districts of the state, including Karimganj.
