Hailakandi: The Hailakandi district administration has ordered the constitution of a medical board for examining the health condition of employees seeking exemption from Panchayat election duties on health ground. In an order issued to this effect on Tuesday, District Election Officer, Adil Khan has asked the Joint Director, Health Services to constitute the medical board with experienced doctors for medical examination of the employees who have submitted applications praying for exemption from election duties on the plea of illness. Khan has asked the Joint Director, Health Services to form the medical board latest by Thursday.
“As large number of employees are required for conducting poll duties, exemption of such employees is difficult in this critical stage and therefore need to be examined by the medical board for confirmation of their illness,” said Khan.
The District Election Officer has asked the Joint Director to intimate the medical and health officers and doctors of civil hospitals, PHCs, SHCs and SCs across the district not to issue any medical certificates to any employees till counting of votes of Panchayat election is over.
Meanwhile, the administration has constituted a number of cells with an officer in-charge for smooth and hassle-free conduct of the polls. 88 officers, college teachers and instructors have been engaged as zonal and sector officers for election related duties. Preparations are afoot for drafting a large pool of employees from state, central government establishments, educational institutions and PSUs for conducting poll duties. Election will be held in 626 polling stations spread over 11 ZPCs on December 9.
