Hrishikhesh-Shefalikona Smriti Award ceremony held in Silchar

Silchar: Six meritorious students, Abhik Ranjan Das, Subhasree Nath, Sonali Chanda, Diksha Dutta, Mousomi Dey and Deepshika Paul, of Third-Year Degree Course (TDC) of Radhamadhab College, Silchar, were conferred with the prestigious Hrishikhesh-Shefalikona Smriti Award at a solemn ceremony held at the auditorium of the College in Silchar on Wednesday.

These students secured 1st class marks in subjects like Bengali, English, Political Science and Education and were handed over a memento, a certificate and cash prize. Every year the award ceremony is conducted to encourage students to scale newer heights in their academic pursuits.

Jashobanta Roy, in-charge principal and HOD, department of Philosophy, of the college, in his welcome address, hailed the day as an important one for the institution, congratulated the award winner students and advised all the students to study well. Jagadish Chandra Majumdar, former principal of the College recalled the hard times through which the college had to pass.

“Hrishikhesh Saha fought tooth and nail for building up this prestigious institution. The history and development of this college owes much to him.” Dr Biswatosh Choudhury, HoD, Department of Bengali, Assam University, Silchar, said it is equally important for students to become good human beings as it is important to be a good student. He also recalled his days of both studentship and teacher.

Dr Ashish Roy, member of the donor family, felt privileged to be a part of the ceremony and assured that he along with his family would go on to confer awards on the meritorious students every year. Prof N B Dey, president, governing body of the College congratulated the students and wished them all the success for their bright and brilliant future.
