Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore's 76th Death Anniversary Observed in Silchar

Silchar: Chondoneer, Silchar based socio cultural organization, observed the 76th death anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore in Silchar on Wednesday.

The members of Chondoneer met with the family members of the legendary Manipuri dance icon late Guru Senarik Rajkumar Singha who was a close associate of Tagore. They presented a bouquet and certificate of appreciation to the family members of the great Guru. Rabindranath Tagore is generally regarded as the pioneer and architect of Manipuri dance. Guru Rajkumar was born in Kalinjar, a small village near Silchar, in 1893. He was in Shantiniketan from 1931 to 1954.

The turning point came in the Guru’s life after the sad demise of the great poet Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The Guru could not even think of spending a day at Shantiniketan without Tagore. He came back to Silchar and began tutoring students and came back to Silchar. He continued to illuminate through his teachings in Asian countries and Europe. For long, he took classes in Silchar Sangeet Vidyalaya.
