Hailakandi: A carton containing huge quantities of illicit Yaba pills was seized by district police during search operation in connection with a burglary case at around 3.30pm on Saturday.

Disclosing this, Superintendent of Police, Pabindra Kumar Nath said the carton containing 11,075 tablets of Yaba — a combination of recreational drug methamphetamine and caffeine, whose street name is ‘crazy medicine’, was recovered from the house of Abidur Rehman Laskar (24), son of Isaak Ali Laskar of village Choratikor, Rangauti Pt-I under Hailakandi Police Station.

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS) has been registered and investigation is on to trace his distributors and ascertaining whether he was just a supplier or had bigger role in the racket, added Nath.
