Silchar: Pradip Dutta Roy, founder president of All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students Association (ACKHSA) and a senior advocate of Gauhati High Court has urged upon the general people to keep their faith, confidence and trust upon the Supreme Court of India, the Registrar General of India and the NRC state coordinator of Assam, Prateek Hajela. Briefing the media at a hotel in Silchar on Thursday, he said, “The Apex Court, the RGI and NRC state coordinator are doing their job well. There is nothing to fear or apprehend. Ample opportunity and time will be given to the applicants for claims, objections and corrections.”

Pradip Dutta Roy said AGP’s Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta and others should refrain from commenting on the future of left out Bengali Hindus post NRC final list in the State of Assam, which is likely to be published in the month of December 2018. The senior advocate also expressed his discontent over the opposing of the Illegal Migrants (Determination BY Tribunal) (IMDT) Act by Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, former Chief Minister of Assam.

Taking a dig at Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, he said, “The TMC delegation sent by Mamata Banerjee was nothing short of a drama. She has never expressed her concern at the fate of Hindu Bengalis of Assam. Sending an 8 member delegation all of a sudden was absurd and strange. If NRC is carried out in West Bengal, around 1 crore foreigners will be detected,” Pradip Dutta Roy added.

Dutta Roy further said that he is satisfied at the manner the mammoth exercise of NRC update is being carried out. “I am happy with Justice Ranjan Gogoi now. He is performing exceedingly well. I will request all to keep faith in the Apex Court and the NRC authorities. There are some forces which are trying to make things difficult by creating chaos and misunderstandings. We should not pay heed to them and maintain peace, harmony and tranquility. I am hopeful that the missed out applicants will make it to the list which is going to be published in December this year,” Pradip Dutta Roy added to say.
