Police Commemoration Day celebrated in Hailakandi

Hailakandi: As part of Police Commemoration Day celebrations, Hailakandi Police on Sunday organized a mini-marathon that saw widespread participation from the general public.

The mini marathon traversed through the main thoroughfares of Hailakandi town in the morning. The event was organised to pay homage to the police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. 117 numbers of security personnel from DEF, APBn and CRPF took part in the marathon.

Present at the event, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nayan Moni Barman said, “October 21 is celebrated as Police commemoration day. On the eve of the event, we conducted a mini-marathon and also quiz competition which saw participation from school and college students of the district.”

Quiz competition among school and college students was held at Police Reserve. Winners were awarded trophies and certificates by Superintendent of Police, Pabindra Kumar Nath and other dignitaries.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police also informed that a Commemoration Day Parade will be carried out in the town as part of the celebrations on Monday. “Commemoration Day Parade will be held where tributes will be paid to the police personnel including CAPF who were martyred last year and their names will be read out,” said Barman.
