Hailakandi: A high level meeting was held to review the status of progress made in key indicators by aspirational district Hailakandi on Thursday. Chairing the meeting at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Prabhari Officer, Hailakandi and Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, Sameer Kumar Khare reviewed the progress of key parameters like health and nutrition, education, agriculture, financial inclusion and skill development and basic infrastructure.

Khare urged Project Officer, TATA Trust, Dnyanesh Renguntwkar to liaise with the district administration officials to ensure proper reflection of data on the website. It may be mentioned here that there was a mismatch in data and the one collected by TATA Trust, NITI Aayog’s knowledge partner, during field survey carried out in June last year resulting in drastic fall in overall ranking of Hailakandi district among the 117 aspirational districts of the country. Enumerators of TATA Trust acknowledged the fact that there was a mismatch in data and that proper survey could not be conducted due to unprecedented flood in the district in June last year.

Senior Consultant, NITI Aayog, Rama M. Kamaraju underscored the need for working out the modalities for making proper assessment of the field survey before being uploaded on the website. He admitted that rankings of aspirational districts keep fluctuating depending on the data being uploaded from time to time. Districts are being ranked based on progress made (Delta ranking) on a real-time basis.

Deputy Commissioner, Adil Khan apprised the slew of steps being initiated by the district administration to improve upon the socio-economic status of the district. National Coordinator, Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti, Asha Mishra, District Development Commissioner, FR Laskar, senior officials of the administration and district heads of concerned departments took part in the meeting.
