Pre-Matric scholarship for Scheduled Tribe, OBC

Hailakandi: The Hailakandi district administration has initiated the process for online application of Pre-Matric scholarship to students belonging to Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) for the financial year 2018-19.

A meeting was held recently under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) cum District Mission Coordinator (DMC), Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan, FR Laskar wherein instruction was given to the Block Elementary Education Officers (BEEOs) and Block Management Coordinators (BMCs) to ensure that not a single genuine ST and OBC student of the district is left out of the scholarship. Laskar asked the elementary education officials to get in touch with the headmasters and head teachers of all government schools, aided and recognised lower and upper primary schools for timely submission of online applications through national scholarship portal www.scholarships.gov.in on or before January 20, 2019.

Verification of online applications will be conducted at institutional and state directorate levels, informed Laskar, adding that the last date for verification at institutional level is on February 10, 2019. Laskar asked the headmasters and head teachers to take utmost care to ensure that the verification is completed within the stipulated timeframe and no eligible ST and OBC students missed out the opportunity of availing the scholarship.

In order to ensure timely online submission of applications, the DDC cum DMC asked the Circle Officers to issue income and caste certificates so that the eligible students can apply.
