Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launches PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme

Silchar: Carrying forward the constant efforts to provide better facilities to the farmers of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM Kisan -samman nidhi scheme on Sunday from Gorakhpur.

As a part of the programme, the district level initiative was inaugurated simulteneously in Cachar as well. Cachar Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri did the formal inauguration along with Silchar MLA Dilip Kumar Paul, ADC Ranadeep Dam and district agriculture offiicer JH Choudhury.

Lauding the efforts of the Central Government, Dilip Paul said all over India 15crore farmers those who have agricultural patta land measuring upto 15 bigha will receive Rs 6,000 per year and the ammount will be sent directly into their bank accounts. Abdul Matin Barbhuiya, a farmer from Ujangram of Chechri GP received his first installment of Rs 2000 moments after Prime Minister had inagurated the yojna.

It is to be mentioned that already 40,000 have received their first installment so far in their respective bank accounts. Around 70,000farmers from the district are targetted to be brought under the fold of the farmers benefit scheme.

Hailakandi: Along with the rest of the country, the Hailakandi district administration launched the income support scheme called Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) for the small and marginal farmers of the district.

At a central function organized by the district administration in association with the Agriculture department at its office premises here on Sunday, Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli said the PM-KISAN scheme aims at supplementing the financial needs of the small and marginal farmers with a direct cash support of Rs.6,000 for each farmer. She urged the farmers to come forward and to avail the income support scheme.

The PM-KISAN scheme or Kisan Yojana is estimated to cost the exchequer Rs.75,000 crore.

“Under the Kisan Yojana, an income support of Rs 6,000 per year (in three equal instalments) will be provided to the families of small and marginal farmers having a combined land holding/ownership of up to two hectares of land,” said Subdivisional Agricultural Officer, Hailakandi, AR Ahmed, adding that the first instalment would be transferred immediately on identification of the beneficiaries.

Ahmed disclosed that 39,940 small and marginal farmers of the district have been selected as beneficiaries under the scheme and the rest would be covered in due course of time. The Kisan Yojana will be effective retrospectively from December 1, 2018 for transfer of benefit to eligible beneficiaries. The government has recognised 12.5 crore such beneficiaries. The first instalment - for the four-month period ending March 31, 2019 - under the scheme will be transferred to the eligible beneficiaries in the current financial year itself.

Quoting Aadhaar is mandatory for claiming benefits under the PM-KISAN scheme, according to the government. The transfer of subsequent instalments will be done only on basis of Aadhaar-seeded database, and beneficiaries not having an Aadhaar card will have to be compulsorily enrolled under Aadhaar, according to the scheme document.

The scheme was launched simultaneously in Hailakandi, Algapur, Lala, Katlicherra and South Hailakandi development blocks. The live telecast and webcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi launching the scheme at Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh were arranged at all the development blocks as well as at Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
