Rongali Bihu Sanmilan Held At Premises of D.B.T.R Phookan H.S. School In Silchar

Silchar: Like every year, the 2-day Rongali Bihu Sanmilan 2019 was recently held at the premises of D.B.T.R Phookan H.S. School in Silchar. An attractive cultural event was presented by guest artistes Ranjit Gogoi’s Bihu Hunchori Group and Nupur Kashyap’s Musical Troupes. Laya Madduri, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, along with other dignitaries were also present. Laya Madduri inaugurated the 2-day long programme which included events like Mou Kunwari, Bihu Kunwari, Bihu Hunchori, competitions in sports, arts and folk dance, both solo and group, and distribution of prizes. A souvenir was inaugurated by Laya Madduri.

Rank holders from Silchar of Higher Secondary examination, Ashim Sarkar, Brinda Roy and Daisy Pathak, were felicitated on the occasion. Former minister Gautam Roy said that a bond of unity should be there among all caste, creed and community. He emphasized on the need of unity of both the valleys of Barak and Brahmaputra. Dilip Kumar Paul, Dr Babul Kumar Bezboruah, Dr P C Sarma, president of Silchar Rongali Bihu Sanmilan and Samir Medhi, working president of Silchar Rongali Bihu Sanmilan also graced the occasion.
