Section 144 CrPC clamped in Silchar with only a fortnight left for the Lok Sabha election

Silchar: With only a fortnight left for the Lok Sabha election, Cachar district administration has clamped Section 144 CrPC across the district. As a part of the prohibitory measures, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner of Cachar Laya Madduri, has made it clear that no political party and candidate can set up kiosks within 200 metres of the polling stations and even if they wish to set up offices, proper permission has to be obtained. No banner, poster symbols etc can be pasted in the proximity of the polling centres. No objects can be displayed to influence the voters.

The District Magistrate has also made it clear that prompt action would be taken against the troublemakers who violate the prohibitory measures. Further, no one will be allowed to carry cash illegally into tea garden areas. Also, it has been instructed that the glasses of the vehicles should be kept clean and the black painted glasses should be removed with immediate effect. The order also prohibits pillion riding apart from elderly persons, women and children under 12 years of age. Carrying of arms and explosives and fireworks is also prohibited.
