‘Separate state a better option for Bengalis’

Silchar: Pradip Dutta Roy, founder president of All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students’ Association (ACKHSA) and advocate of Gauhati Hugh Court, at a press meet held at his Itkhola residence on Tuesday said that the whole NRC update process is nothing but a farce and that it should be stopped and a new update process should start afresh. “This is unbelievable. Prateek Hajela, NRC state coordinator, has said that a huge number of foreigners have made it to the NRC draft list. If this is the case, then what is the use of wasting time, energy and money over it? Moreover, the way parties and organizations are opposing Bengalis of the state of Assam, it will be better to separate Bengalis,” he said.

Pradip Dutta Roy said, “It is impossible for the people of Barak Valley to stay in this state in such a neglected and abandoned way. Organizations like AASU, KMSS, AGP and ULFA have created an atmosphere in Assam where a communal riot between the Bengalis and the Assamese communities seems to be obvious. Such acts of KMSS, AGP, AASU and ULFA will give Assam a minority leader as Chief Minister running the state and that Chief Minister will be none other than Badruddin Ajmal. So, we the Bengalis do not wish to create more problems. It is better to divide Assam now.”
