Survey In Hailakandi Key Sectors For Time-Bound Policy

A Correspondent

Hailakandi: The Hailakandi district administration has embarked on a baseline survey of key sectors for time-bound policy interventions in areas in which the district is lagging behind. DRISHTI, an initiative of the district administration with support from an organisation named Centre for Digital Financial Inclusion, aims to conduct a baseline survey in four sectors namely, Social Welfare, Health, Education and Agriculture through which a baseline data will be collected.

“This survey will enable us to make time bound policy interventions in areas that we are lagging behind. Initially we have done the survey in 40 Anganwadi Centres. From today we will be conducting the survey in schools,” said Assistant Commissioner, Parikshit Phukan. An Externally Aided Programme for Aspirational District of NITI Aayog, Phukan said, “The idea is not just to collate data but in ensuring timely interventions to get the desired outcomes on the developmental front.”

The NITI Aayog launched the baseline ranking for the Aspirational Districts based on the published data of 49 indicators (81 data points) across five developmental areas with different weightages.

It aims to remove heterogeneity through mass movement (Jan Andolan), to quickly and effectively transform the district; uplifting the districts which have shown relatively lesser progress in achieving key social outcome and focus on the key strengths of each district and identify the low-hanging fruits for immediate improvement.
