SILCHAR: In a bid to create awareness among all, a ‘Run for Vote’ was organized by Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), Cachar, here on Saturday. SVEEP is the flagship programme of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. Since 2009, it has been working towards preparing India’s electors and equipping them with basic knowledge related to the electoral process.
The run began at 8 am from the premises of the office of the Cachar Deputy Commissioner in the presence of DC Laya Madduri. “In town areas, there is a sense of apathy among the people in casting their votes. This time, we should be more aware and participate in the election process. I urge upon all, especially the young voters to come forward with vigour and cast their precious votes. Arrangements have been made to make the process as convenient as possible,” said Laya Madduri. She said, “This ‘Run for Vote’ has been organized to create awareness among all to exercise their franchise. I hope this time the poll percentage.”
