Tribal Youth Arrested With Explosives

Silchar: A tribal youth identified as Lalthuoilien Hmar (22), according to a well-informed source, was arrested this morning from his residence by a police team led by SDPO of Lakhimpur, Anurag Sarma, and assisted by Inspector Anwar Hussain Chowdhury, officer in charge, of Lakhipur police station for possessing explosives. The source adds to say that on a tip off the raid was conducted at his house located at Digar Fulertal under Lakhipur police station which resulted in the recovery of 34 number of gelatins and 26 detonators.

The youth was taken into custody and charged under section 5 vide case no. 25/2019. He was produced before SDJM Court Lakhipur. The police sought his remand for three days for interrogation and to find out the motive of the accused and also to ascertain if he has any link with any underground organization. The SDJM granted his remand to police custody for the period as prayed for.
