Tributes Paid to Photojournalist Malin Sharma in Silchar

Silchar: Glowing tributes were paid to photojournalist Malin Sharma on Tuesday at a conclave of media persons and representatives of different social and political outfits at Ellora Heritage conference hall here under the banner of “Journalists’ Forum”. Abhijit Bhattacharjee, e media journalist, initiated the memorial tributes, describing Malin Sharma attached with Barak Television Network (BTN) as a committed and dedicated member of the fourth state whose untimely death in a road rage a week back has sent shock waves not only in the media fraternity but also across the civil society of Barak Valley.

Just at the age of 42, Malin Sharma created a niche in the heart and mind of people in general for his sweet and suave behaviour and by his invariable presence with video camera at functions and events to record, edit and telecast. Showering praises on Sharma, a host of speakers who included Taimur Raja Choudhury, editor Samayik Prasanga, Prof Jyoti Lal Chowdhury, Swarnali Choudhury, social activist, Tomojyoti Bhattacharjee, Ashim Dutta, Sanjeev Roy, Uttam Saha, Madan Singhal, Deepayan Chakraborty and Anirban Jyoti Gupta in identical voice called him an exceptional person with a sense of obligation to society.

Sharma was easily identified in the crowd for his smiling face and commitment to his assignments. He left an indelible mark for his deeds and achievements in the field of journalism. He lived not in years but in deeds. He did not grow like an oak tree but lived the life of a lily – the sum and substance of what the speakers wanted to say and convey. All the speakers in one voice impressed on Anil Jyoti Das, DSP (Border), who attended the memorial meeting on behalf of SP Mugdha Jyoti Dev Mahanta, to expedite investigation for the arrest of the driver of the tipper truck under whose wheels Malin Sharma was crushed to death. The DSP while paying homage to Sharma assured all out efforts are being made to nab the tipper driver.
