Unidentified body found in Silchar

Silchar: A dead body was recovered from the heart of Silchar town. However, this seems to be an incident of drug abuse rather than that of murder or suicide. On Friday morning, a dead body of a youth aged around 24 years was seen lying on the footpath at Nazirpatty point of this town.

Police recovered the body and sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy. Preliminary investigation revealed that excessive intake of drugs has cost the life of the person.

The identity of the person, till filing of this report, has not been ascertained. In the morning, some passers-by noticed a boy lying on the side of a footpath just beside a heap of garbage at Central Road point and then informed the police who rushed to the spot and found that the boy had already dead. His body will be kept in the morgue as per norms for identification. A syringe and a small glass bottle were also recovered from near his body.
