Wife killer sent to jail in Silchar

SILCHAR: A young bride Suma Begum Laskar (22) was stabbed to death by her husband Afjal Hussain Chowdhury (26) at her parental home located at Rupaibali under Banskandi police station investigation centre, 15 km from here. But retribution followed soon. On the basis of the FIR filed by the father of the deceased, a police team led by Atikur Rahman, in charge of the Banskandi police investigation centre arrested Afjal from his residence at Kazidahar part 2 under Sonai police station. Afjal was charged with murder u/s 302 IPC.

From the interrogation of the accused by the police, it came out that Suma Begum Laskar continued to prolong her stay at her parental home and was unresponsive to the repeated pleadings of her husband to come back to her in law house. Still adamant to come back made Afjal lose his temper. Infuriated, he came to his in-laws house and under pretension of meeting her stabbed her merciless. A profusely bleeding Suma succumbed to death. On Friday, Afjal was produced before the Sub Judicial Magistrate Court at Lakhipur and thereafter sent to jail.
