Dates Of Assembly By-Polls Announced By Election Commission, To Be Held In Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland On October 30

The Assembly by-polls will be held by the Election Commission for 30 seats which include 10 Assembly seats in the Northeast and by-polls to 3 Lok Sabha seats.

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India has announced that the by-polls to the Assembly and Lok Sabha seats will be held on October 30, 2021.

The by-polls will be conducted to fill the vacancies in 30 Assembly constituencies and 3 Parliamentary Constituencies. This includes The Union Territories of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.

The Election Commission stated it has made the decision to hold the by-polls election after taking into consideration many factors after reviewing the situations related to the pandemic, flood, festivals, cold conditions in certain regions and feedback from concerned states/Union Territories.

Among the north-eastern states, the by-polls will be held in the states of Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Nagaland.

The constituencies in which the by-polls will be held in Assam are Gossaingaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thowra. 

In Meghalaya, the constitutions in which the by-polls will be conducted are Mawryngkneng (ST), Mawphlang (ST) and Rajabala.

In Mizoram, the by-polls will be conducted in Turial (ST) constituency only.

In Nagaland, the by-polls will be held in Shamtorr-Chessore (ST) constituency.

On October 1, the gazette notification will be released.

As per reports, the last date of nomination is October 8, 2021. The last date for the scrutiny of nomination is October 11, 2021.

The last date for the withdrawal of candidature is October 30, 2021.

The polling will be conducted on October 30, 2021.

The date for counting the votes has been set on November 2, 2021.

The by-polls will be held in other states of the country such as Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, telengana and West Bengal.
