COVID-19 update: Deputy Commissioner of Cachar visit hospital to review preparedness

CACHAR: Deputy Commissioner of Cachar , Barnali Sharma visited the isolation ward at S. M. Dev Civil Hospital on Wednesday to review the preparedness regarding COVID-19.

The Deputy Commissioner of Cachar inspected all the wards and enquired about the facilities available for patients. The hospital has a total 6 beds, 3 for male and 3 for female, which have been kept ready for patients. The isolation ward is well equipped with staff on 24/7 duty.

Sharma also inspected other areas including commercial and residential areas in Silchar town. She was upset to see that many people were not maintaining social distancing. She asked customers to maintain distance of at least 1 metre. She urged people to stay indoors.

She also applauded some people who came up with an innovative idea to ensure that residents follow social distancing. Outside a medicine shop M/S Narmada Medicos near Itkhola, circles were drawn for customers to encourage them to keep distance.

Sharma applauded the initiative and said that this could serve as an example for the rest of the traders in the area.
