Hen Gives Birth to 4 Chicks Without laying Eggs in Udalguri District of Assam

GUWAHATI: In a village in Assam namely Jangalpara in the district of Udalguri, a hen gave birth to 4 chicks without laying any egg through a unique birth process

One of the very unusual incident occurred in a village namely Jangalpara in the Udalguri district of Assam where a hen gave birth to 4 of her chicks without producing any eggs.

The home where the rare and unbelievable incident took place belongs to a man name Deepak Saharia who had poultry rooms of hens. The neighbors and other people where much excited to see the hen and her chicks so a large crowd gathered at the home of Deepak Saharia on Monday.

It is later discovered by the ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research from Hyderabad that the hen belongs to a breed or variety of hen called Vanaraj.

Ajit Saharia family member of Deepak Saharia said that from the last three months that particular hen didn't produce any egg and on 11 October, Monday the family came across the unusual incident knowing the fact that the hen had given birth to 4 chicks without laying eggs and among the 4 chicks, 2 died. He also mentioned that it is not possible that any other hen from other place could come there and give birth to chicks as they had very concrete and strong walls in the poultry room where the hen was kept from long time.

Veterinarian Doctor Samsul Ali from CWRC i.e. Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation gave statement by saying that the incident is something very unbelievable and he had never dealt with such a case thereafter he also added that there could be genetic reasons as many mammals and birds sometimes shares ancestors that are common so it could be possible for genetic reasons. Many assumptions has been made about the very unique and shocking birth process of the hen like the eggs might got hatched in the reproductive system of the hen or the hen might go through the process of natural eggs formation for twenty one days inside the reproductive system.
