
NEW DELHI: In a significant initiative, on the Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will begin a special 15-day 'North East Discovery' tour starting April 22, 2025.
The journey promises an immersive experience through the unexplored gems of the Northeast, including parts of Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya, which will commence from Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway Station.
The fully air-conditioned deluxe train will accommodate 156 tourists with options in AC I, AC II, and AC III classes, as stated by IRCTC, a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways.
Pricing for the all-inclusive package starts at Rs 1,67,845 per person (AC 1 Coupe), Rs 1,49,815 per person (AC 1 Cabin), Rs 1,29,915 per person (AC 2 Tier), and Rs 1,16,905 per person (AC 3 Tier).
Highlights of the tour include a trip to Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, from Naharlagun; historical exploration in Sivasagar, Assam, including Sivadol Temple and Talatal Ghar; and visits to the Kamakhya Temple, Umananda Temple, and a Brahmaputra sunset sail in Guwahati.
Tourists will also explore Unakoti, Ujjayanta Palace, Neermahal Palace, and Tripura Sundari Mandir in Tripura; visit Khonoma village in Nagaland; and enjoy an overnight stay and safari at Kaziranga National Park. Additionally, the itinerary includes sightseeing and scenic drives at Shillong Peak, Elephant Falls, Nawkhalikai Falls, and Mawsmai Caves in Meghalaya.
