Islamic organisations in Assam urge Muslims to observe Shab-e-Barat from home

GUWAHATI: Various Islamic organisations of the state have urged Muslims to observe Shab-e-Barat (day of forgiveness/atonement) from their homes.

No Namaz has been organised for the day.

The organisations asked followers to maintain social distancing and follow lockdown. Assam State Jamiat Ulema, Burha Jame Masjid Committee-Ambari, All Assam Goriya-Moriya Yuva Chhatra Parishad, Guwahati Kabristan Committee and Muslim Students’ Union have issued press releases asking people to mark the occasion from home.

Post Nizamuddin Markaz episode several Islamic leaders have been asked to make an appeal to their followers urging them to follow lockdown.

AIUDF supremo Maulana Badruddin Ajmal had said that the Nizamuddin incident was unfortunate given that the world and the entire country is suffering from COVID-19 pandemic.

He urged people who participated in the Jamaat to go for tests in hospitals and said that they should not hide their travel history.
