ITANAGAR: Challenging the tough terrain, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) created a record to scale 75 peaks and hoist the Tricolour simultaneously in Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh on the occasion of Independence Day under the mission 'Amritarohan'.

The 'Himveers' climbed the 75 peaks today morning at 7 AM making an unique record of hoisting the national flag at 75 heights simultaneously.

As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a 75-day relay of Long Range Patrol (LRP) 'Amrit' is also being conducted on the Indo-China borders.

Notably, the ITBP personnel celebrated Independence Day at the peak of 18,800 feet in Sikkim by marching with the Tricolour.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police men showcased the National Flag at various heights in Tawang on the occasion of I-Day.

The Indian government is celebrating the Har Ghar Tiranga program from August 11 – August 15 2022. Under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav year, the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrate the event at 400 iconic sites across the country.

Notably, the 75 peaks are near its 75 Border Out Posts (BOPs) at the India-China border. Of the total posts, 33 peaks are located in Ladakh, 16 in Uttarakhand, 11 in Sikkim, 10 in Himachal Pradesh and 5 in Arunachal Pradesh.

'Har Ghar Tiranga' is a campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India's independence. The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag.
