NAHARKATIA: 11 Star Bongaigaon FC lifted the 18th Captain Jintu Gogoi Vir Chakra Memorial Football Tournament title defeating OIL FC 4-2 via tie-break at Duliajan on Tuesday. The schedule time of the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

After the barren first half, Milan Basumatary put OILFC ahead in the 65th minute. But at the 85 minute Semin Thang Haokip brought back 11 Star into the game scoring the equalizer.

The closing ceremony was graced by Sasanka Pratim Deka, Executive Director, Engineering Services, OIL and Brigadier Kripal Singh Gill, Bar to Sena Medal, Commander 73 Mountain Brigade along with parents of the braveheart Thagiram Gogoi and Dulu Prabha Gogoi, Ganeshan, CGM, (HR) ONGC, Aftab Ahmed (DGM), SBI, Mintu Handique (Official), NRL, among others.

Winner 11 Star Bongaigaon FC was awarded the trophy along with Rs 8 lakh as prize money. Runners up OIL FC collected Rs 5 lakh as prize money along with the trophy. While the Golden Ball was won by Sudhan Bari of OIL FC, the Golden Boot was awarded to Semin Thang Haokip of 11 Star Bongaigaon FC. On the other hand, the Golden Gloves award was adjudged to Ganesh Boro of 11 Star Bongaigaon FC. (IANS)
