2 Assam Body Builders In Indian Team

GUWAHATI: 53rd Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Championships will be held at Batam, Indonesia from September 27. Two body builders from Assam will represent India in this competition and they are Subhadeep Baidya and Kashar Ali.

The Sentinel (TS): When the organizers of the major soccer competitions in the state are finding it difficult to host their events you are doing it nicely. How you manage it?

There is no doubt that hosting a major soccer competition in the state is a very difficult job now. You need huge fund and also good connection with the officials of the soccer world. But you can manage it if you chalk out your plan properly. You also need a good team and we are very fortunate that all of our members take very active role at the time of hosting the event.

TS: Fund is really a big problem now a days….

Yes. If you invite three or four good teams and even though they are from India you need atleast Rs 50-60 lakh to host the tournament. Every year collecting such a big fund is really a difficult task. It is because of that we have decided to hold the meet in multiple Venues every year. It serves two purposes- first fund can generate locally and secondly the people at the rural areas also get the opportunities to witness good soccer in their own places.

(TS): What kind of support you have received from the corporate sectors and also from the government?

Oil India is giving us good support from the very beginning. Time to time we have also received support from the state government also. Our Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is very sports enthusiastic and he is trying his best to bring a change in the sports scenario of the state. We will request him to make a proper plan so that all the organizations, which are patronizing soccer, receive good fund from the state government.

(TS): What kind of help Bodousa Sports club provides the local organizers?

Look we believe in give and take policy. If you don’t give good support to the local organizers they won’t show interest to host the event. Before the tournament we meet with the officials of the different venues. This time the tournament would be held in 10 venues but honestly speaking we have received request from other places also and it’s very unfortunate that we were not able to give them the opportunity to host the event. During the meeting with the local organizers we make clear what we want from them and also listen what they want from us.
