35th Abhiruchi Sports Day celebrated at Demow

DEMOW: The 35th edition of the Abhiruchi Sports Day on the occasion of the birthday of the State’s first Arjuna award winner Bhogeswar Baruah has been celebrated on Monday in Demow Public playground with a daylong programme. A mass run programme was organized which was flagged off by Sanjib Barua, OC of Demow Police Station. Dilip Gogoi, Senior Sportsperson of Demow and Arup Kumar Dutta, President of Demow Handball Club. Manju Ali, Secretary of Demow Handball Club were present in the flag hoisting programme.

A felicitation programme was organized where Hireswar Dutta, former national football player of Nitaipukhuri, Anima Phukan, former national athletics player of Demow and Prabin Lahon, former national athletics player of Nitaipukhuri were felicitated. Then handball matches of both boys and girls in juniors and seniors category were organized in Demow Public playground amongst Demow, Dekhari, and Mahmara handball teams.
