A True Sportsperson Never Practice Unfair Tricks: Bimal Bharali

GUWAHATI: The concluding function of the year-long Pulin Das Centenary Celebration was held at the Vivekananda Kendra Auditorium here today.

The Memorial Keynote Lecture on the topic “Sportsman and Sportsman Spirit- Both Equally Important” was delivered by former Ranji captain of Assam and East Zone player Bimal Bharali. In his address, Bharali delved deep into the importance of sportsmanship citing various instances of the same in the world sporting arena and especially on the international cricket field. In his speech, Bimal Bharali also mentioned: “A true sportsperson never practices unfair tricks to win.”

Veteran sports organizer Tapan Dutta of Jorhat was accorded a public felicitation in recognition of his life-long contribution towards sports in Assam.

Dutta, in his speech, spoke of the close and long association he had had with Pulin Das since 1955, who was instrumental in drafting Dutta into the state’s table tennis scene as an organizer and administrator. He also advised taking initiative by organizations like T Ao Birth Centenary Celebration committee and others to take the step to introduce Special awards for the sports journalists on the name of Pulin Das.
