Ace Badminton player Pranab Jyoti Barua no more

DIBRUGARH: Pranab Jyoti Barua, former Senior Tea Executive of Doomdooma Tea Estate, an ace Badminton player who represented Assam on several occasion passed away on May 30 at local nursing home here after a prolong ailment. He was 75.

Baruah is survived by one son, daughter and wife besides other family members, friends and large number of his admirers.

Former chairman of the Badminton Committee of Dibrugarh District Sports Assocation (DDSA) Baruah was also a first-rate cricketer. The Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal felicitated him along with other sports personality at a function organized on the foundation laying ceremony of sports stadium near Jokai for his outstanding contribution towards uplift of sports in the state.

Several sports personalities and organizers like Dhiren Baruah, Jamshed Ahmed Khan, Ajoy Baruah, Manindra Nath Saikia, Rajib Gogoi, Gyan Sarmah, Amiyo Hazarika and Narul Akhtar while condoling the death of Baruah stated "it's an irreparable loss to sports arena of Dibrugarh".

His death was also condoled by DDSA, Milan Jyoti Sangha, Jeoti Moral Sagha and several sports organizations. His last rite was performed here today.
