Aizawl FC player puts innovative idea for fitness

GUWAHATI: When there is will there is way. The players were forced to stay at home because of lockdown that has been enforced to keep the spread of the COVID-19 virus under check. However the players of Aizawl FC, the former champion of I-League, have taken to custom-made gym instruments to maintain their fitness.

In a conversation with The AIFF website Aizawl FC forward Jonathan Lalrawngbawla said: “The players are all spending their time at home maintaining the social distancing norms. But I feel it is essential to keep the fitness level intact and so I am doing regular training at my home.”

He even rigged a dumbbell of his own so that he does not miss out on his weight training during the lockdown.

Talking on his new innovation Lalrawngbawla said, “I’ve made some dumbbells using bamboo, which was available near my house. They are quite safe to use, and has helped me maintain my regular training routine,” said Jonathan. He also added, “Of course, I’ve also been doing some on-the-ball training and core exercises so that I don’t lose my touch once I get back to the field.”

The scenario of COVID-19 is gradually improving in the Northeastern states. Five out of the eight Northeastern states are completely coronavirus-free and the remaining three have not added any new COVID-19 positive case in the last few days, However it will likely to take another 2-3 months before sports activities once again start in the region.
