Amandeep Khare’s ton gives Chattishgarh promising start in Ranji Trophy

GUWAHATI: A ton from Amandeep Khare (105) lifted Chattishgarh to a promising position in the Ranji Trophy tie against Assam which got underway at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara here today. The visitors were 276 for 7 at stumps on Day 1.

Invited to bat first, Chattishgarh were once struggling 47-3 but Amandeep stood like a rock in the middle and guided his team to good position. The batsman got nice support from Harpreet Singh Bhatia (50) and Shashank Singh (60).

In the morning pacer Arup Das gave nice start to Assam removing opener Shashank Chandrakar (1) and first down batsman Asuthosh Singh (5). His new ball partner Ranjeet Mali sent back other opener Avnish Singh (24) and it looked like that Assam were going to take control on the game. But Amandeep played a solid knock in the middle. The batsman faced 164 balls to score 105 runs with the help of 16 boundaries. He also involved with two big partnerships with Harpreet Singh Bhatia (50) and Shashank Singh (60).

It was Riyan Parag who brought back Assam in the game picking three wickets at the later part of the day. Riyan first removed Amandeep and later he picked up Vishal Singh and Ajay Mandal. The young spinner finished the day 3-44. Arup also picked up 3 wickets giving away 68 runs.
