Arunachal kickboxers accorded a warm welcome

BORDUMSA: Several youths and women organizations of Lekang and Mahadevpur area in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh on Monday afternoon accorded a warm reception to four of the 10 medallists of the State on their homecoming after participating in the Waka India Open International Kickboxing tournament held at Talkotora stadium in New Delhi from February 9 to 13.
The happiness of the local people knew no bounds while the four icons of Salary area in Namsai – Monjit Yein (18) Dibyajeet Jha (17), Jumli Kato (15) and Robin Deori (18) set foot amidst the cheering crowd here at the Assam -Arunachal border Dirak Check Gate. The athletes were felicitated with traditional gamocha and bouquet of flowers.
Monjit Yein and Junmoni Yein of Silato Miri village won silver medals in the U-59 category (full contact) while Dibyajeet Jha of Mahadevpur won a bronze and Jumli Kato (15) of Silatoo Miri and Robin Deori (18) of New Mohong also won silvers in the senior K1 event.
